Active Warrant Search in Marin County, California

Marin County arrest warrants are court orders that authorize law enforcement to arrest and bring a defendant before a court. Court magistrates may issue warrants upon receiving a sworn statement from law enforcement officers. The statement must contain sufficient evidence that a crime occurred. Court magistrates may also issue warrants if the defendant fails to honor court summonses.

Per the California Penal Code, warrants must reveal the following information:

  • Defendant’s name, known aliases, and physical features.
  • Warrant document number, location, and date.
  • Alleged crime.
  • A command to any peace officer to arrest and bring the defendant before the court.
  • Name and signature of the warrant-issuing judge or magistrate.

The Marin County Sheriff's Record Division may keep records of active warrants issued by local courts. To obtain such warrants, record seekers may submit their request to the sheriff’s office at this address:

1600 Los Gamos Drive #200

San Rafael, CA 94903

Phone: (415) 479-2311

Record seekers can also locate arrest warrants in court record databases. For instance, the Marin County Superior Court offers an online case search portal that may display inactive warrants documented in case files.
